A reliable variety that is very disease resistant and hardy. These large plants can grow 20" tall and produces solid central heads with smaller sized heads developing later in the season. Steam rather than boil to keep their rich colour and vitamin count. Leaves also can be cooked and eaten as a winter green. Broccoli has high levels of glucoraphanin, a compound that is converted into a potent antioxidant called sulforaphane during digestion. Studies suggest that sulforaphane may reduce blood sugar, cholesterol levels and reduce chronic disease development.
